Day 31 – The Progress Shows

Thursday, October 30, 2025

It has now been about 30 days since the crash, and Brennen is making phenomenal strides here. Every day we see something new, a little stronger step, clearer words, quicker thinking, and it reminds us just how far he has come in a short amount of time. The progress he is making here continues to surprise even the people who do this work every day.

Everyone we have encountered at Shirley Ryan has been incredible. The kindness, patience, and professionalism of the staff here has been truly uplifting. From the therapists to the nurses and everyone in between, it is clear that they genuinely care about the people they are helping. We am eternally grateful to these incredible individuals for everything they have done and continue to do for Brennen. They push him, encourage him, and celebrate the small victories right alongside us.

Brennen’s progress has been nothing short of remarkable. Each day we see improvements in his balance, speech, and overall cognition. Things that seemed impossible just a few weeks ago are now becoming part of his daily routine. He is walking more, speaking more clearly, understanding conversations better, and continuing to regain pieces of himself day by day.

Of course, the work is not easy. The therapy schedule here is intense, and by the end of the day Brennen is tired and sometimes frustrated. There are moments when the physical and mental exhaustion show, which is completely understandable. But even during those tough moments, he knows how important this process is. He understands that the work he is putting in right now will make all the difference in the long run.

What has stood out the most is his determination. Brennen pushes himself every single day. He sets small goals and then pushes just a little bit further. Whether it is walking a few extra steps, working harder through therapy, or fighting through fatigue, he continues to rise to the challenge. Watching him work through this has been nothing short of inspiring.

I have had a front-row seat to this journey, and it is incredible to witness the growth and strength he continues to show. The resilience he has displayed through all of this is something that cannot easily be put into words.

I thank God every day for the outcome we are seeing and for every single person who played a role in saving his life that night and caring for him along the way. From the people who found him, to the first responders, the doctors, nurses, and therapists, all of them helped make this possible.

Brennen is truly blessed, and his determination and resilience continue to inspire all of us. The road ahead is still long, but the progress we are seeing now gives us so much hope for what the future will hold.
